What Kwalifi is
A learning platform for South Africans, and an engine training companies can run their own courses on.
Kwalifi is a learning platform where South Africans learn practical skills online and earn certificates anyone can verify by QR code, and where training companies can run and certify their own courses under their own brand.
Who it is for
Learners come first. Many have no post-school qualification, or cannot afford tertiary study, and need a way to prove what they can actually do. Courses are written for a phone, one question per screen, so they can be finished on a site or a taxi rather than at a desk. The pass mark on our own courses is 70%, you may retry as often as you need at no extra cost, and we keep your best score rather than your last.
The second audience is training and certification companies. They deliver on this platform under their own brand and their own accreditation, issuing their own certificates, without building the software themselves.
What the certificate means
Courses sold directly by Kwalifi are not accredited. They end in a Certificate of Completion, which records that you finished the course and passed its final assessment. It is not a national qualification and carries no NQF level, credits or unit standards. It does not expire.
Accredited qualifications on Kwalifi come from accredited providers delivering under their own accreditation, and are labelled as theirs. Every certificate, ours or a provider’s, carries a QR code that opens a public verification page. No account, no app, no phone call to us.
Courses today
Health and safety for South African workplaces, with the catalogue growing into trades such as bricklaying, tiling, carpentry and welding, and into call centre and sales skills. Courses are bought one at a time and some are free. Prices are in rand, on each course page.
Who builds it
Kwalifi is built and run by Appetite Technology, a South African software company founded in 2012 and self-funded. Registered company details are on the terms of use.
